Daniele Bortoli: My name is Daniele Bortoli and I am from the island of Bermuda

(Aerial view of a coastal area with turquoise sea and white sandy beach. Text reads "Where were you based whilst studying your online degree with the Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥?)

Daniele Bortoli: So I started in Bermuda, working as a full-time engineer. I am in my early 40s. I am a  mid-career professional electrical engineer, and I wasn’t prepared to take a break from my career. Leeds allowed me to take all of that on at an affordable price, too. I have to really stress that, you know, the cost of doing this compared to an MBA. There is an enormous difference and this I could digest.

(Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥ building aerial footage overlooking cityscape. Text reads "What support did you receive throughout your studies".)

Daniele Bortoli: The application processes is pretty straightforward. You have to demonstrate a desire and appetite for the course. That's the most important thing. And there's contact, albeit with other parties of the programme. Stay pretty firm all throughout.   There's always somebody trying to engage with you. You're not ever alone in this programme.

(Person sits at desk with laptop in front of bookshelf. Text reads, "Could you describe how having a personal tutor enhanced your learning experience?".)

Daniele Bortoli: Realistically, in a sense, everybody is an academic tutor because no matter what, they're going to answer your e-mail.

(Person writes in notebook while using laptop and wearing headphones. Text reads, "What would you say to someone considering studying an online degree with the Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥?")

Daniele Bortoli: It's professional, it's organised, the information is there for you to go back to  research further. Even after finishing, I still have access to all my modules as well.

(Silhouette of a person standing by a large window overlooking a city at sunset. Text reads "How has completing your degree at Leeds changed your life and supported your career ambitions?".)

Daniele Bortoli: I started the wine business on the side towards the end of my degree and the degree gave me the confidence to do it, the belief to do it.

(University campus with modern buildings and green garden. Text reads "What are your future plan".)

Daniele Bortoli: Yeah, I'm going to enjoy the break because there's no more fight. There's no more fight to give. Yeah, I just want to enjoy the moment. So for the time being, I'm I'm happy not having a goal other than growing the wine business and raising a family.

(Students attend a graduation ceremony in a large hall with arched windows. Text reads "Could you share any tips for succeeding in online studies at Leeds?". Text that reads 1. Positivity 2. Perseverance 3. Courage.)

Daniele Bortoli: The first one was positivity, the second one was perseverance, and the third one was courage. You need these three things. These are the ingredients for overcoming all the obstacles that you're going to face with this course.

(Person in academic gown holds a paper cup. Text reads "Would you recommend an online degree at Leeds and why?")

Daniele Bortoli: I would recommend this course to anybody. It doesn't matter where you are in the world. It doesn't matter how difficult your job is, how how fully you're involved. You are. The point is, is that this course is delivered in such a way that you can accomplish it no matter what circumstances are.
